Effective date: July 25, 2026
Undercover ("the app", "we", "our") is a pass-and-play party game for Android, iOS, and other supported platforms. This policy explains what information the app accesses on your device, how it is used, what a third-party advertising SDK accesses on our behalf, and your choices. The app itself has no server or backend of its own — the only outside party involved is Google, through the AdMob SDK described in Section 4.
Everything below is created by you during play and stored locally on your device. None of it is transmitted to us or to any third party, because the app makes no network connections.
| Data | Why it's collected | Where it's stored |
|---|---|---|
| Player names | Displayed on dossier cards and throughout the round so players can identify each other. | Local app storage on your device only. |
| Player photos (optional) | You may capture a photo with your device camera for a player's dossier card. This step is entirely optional — the game works fine without it. | Saved to local device/app storage; never uploaded. |
| Word categories & word pairs | The words used during play, including any custom decks you create. | Local SQLite database on your device. |
| In-progress game state | Lets you resume a game if the app is closed or the device restarts (round, roles, scores, etc.). | Local device preferences storage; overwritten each time you progress, cleared when you end the game. |
| Coin balance | Tracks coins earned by watching rewarded ads and spent starting games/rounds. | Local device preferences storage; persists across app restarts, reset only by uninstalling. |
| Permission | Purpose |
|---|---|
| Camera | Only used if you choose to take a photo for a player's dossier card. The camera is never accessed without you tapping the photo button. |
| Vibration / Haptics | Provides tactile feedback for in-game actions (e.g. hold-to-reveal). Purely cosmetic — no data involved. |
| Photo / storage access | Needed on some older Android versions to save and reload the photo you captured for a dossier card. |
| Internet / network state | Needed to request, load, and display rewarded ads, and to show the ad-consent form. The app makes no other network connections — your gameplay data never uses this. |
| App Tracking Transparency prompt (iOS 14.5+) | Shown once so you can allow or deny the advertising identifier being used to personalize ads. Denying it means you'll still see ads, just less targeted ones. |
You can grant or revoke any of these permissions at any time from your device's system settings. Denying camera access simply means you won't be able to add a player photo — every other feature keeps working.
Undercover is free and funded by optional rewarded video ads instead of a purchase price or an account/subscription. Watching a rewarded ad to completion earns one in-app coin, and each game or round costs one coin to start — you always have the choice to watch an ad or not; nothing about your gameplay requires it beyond that coin cost.
Ads are served by Google AdMob, a third-party advertising SDK we embed but don't control. To request, deliver, and measure ads, Google's SDK can access and process:
None of this ad-related data is collected, stored, or seen by us directly — it is handled entirely inside Google's SDK under Google's own privacy policy, available at policies.google.com/privacy. Where required (for example, EEA/UK users), Google's User Messaging Platform shows a consent form on first launch asking how your data may be used for ads; you can change that choice at any time from the app's Settings screen via the "Privacy Options" link (shown only where applicable). On iOS, the system App Tracking Transparency prompt additionally governs whether your advertising identifier can be used at all.
Aside from AdMob, the app uses no other third-party SDKs, analytics, or crash-reporting services, and none of your player names, photos, word decks, or game state is ever sent to Google or anyone else — that data stays local as described in Section 2.
Undercover does not knowingly collect personal information from anyone, including children — no gameplay information ever leaves the device, and rewarded ads are requested and displayed through Google AdMob under Google's own child-directed treatment settings and policies. Parents and guardians can review or delete all locally stored data at any time by uninstalling the app.
Local data persists on your device only for as long as the app is installed. You can remove it at any time by:
Because all data stays within your device's app-sandboxed storage, it is protected by your operating system's standard app-sandboxing and, where enabled, device-level encryption. As with any app, we recommend keeping your device's OS up to date and using a device passcode.
If Undercover's data practices change in the future (for example, if a new online feature or third-party SDK is added), this policy will be updated and the effective date above will change accordingly. Continued use of the app after an update constitutes acceptance of the revised policy.
